The food-safety guarantee is the most important promise made to consumers by the De la Transavia™ products. The company operates in an integrated closed system in accordance with European and international standard regulations, and utilizes only chicken meat grown on its own farms, closely monitored by the Transavia veterinary doctors.
Discover more on the company’s food-safety systems:
Transavia performs its activities within an integrated system, a closed and controlled production circuit, from the newly-hatched, day-old chicks, to the full-bred, ready for production chickens delivered to the slaughterhouse. Optimal breeding facilities, proper feeding, and the daily sanitization of access corridors and transport vehicles, guarantee the delivery of healthy, controlled-origin poultry.

All of Transavia’s personnel is annually vaccinated and has access to sterile protection equipment, enhanced with a high level of security. All employees are trained to strictly respect and follow access and traffic regulations within the production facilities. Within the production sectors, even employees who do not come in direct contact with livestock have to follow the same strict sanitization and disinfection procedures as the rest of the farm’s personnel: shower, changing of garments, and formalin disinfection of equipment.
Monitoring every transport by tracking the origin-farm, destination and route of every carrier, is one of our thoroughly followed procedures. All the packaging and the egg crates for retail, as well as the ones for incubation eggs, are disposable, single-use.
The entrance to the Combined Feed Factory is equipped with a photocell-activated disinfecting unit, all feed vehicles being sanitized and disinfected prior to entering the facilities. Feed is stored in specially allocated, impermeable bunkers. The farm facilities are also fitted with sanitary filters for the employees’ clothing and shoes.

The poultry is bred in one of Transavia’s own farms, located nearby. Transavia’s chickens are raised in spacious, aerated halls. During the cold, winter period, heat generators maintain an optimum breeding temperature, while in the summertime, large, air conditioning and water-pulverizing units are used to lower the temperatures, thus maintaining proper comfort levels for the livestock.
The halls are isolated from all possible contact with any wild birds or animals, while the sanitary filters provide an enhanced security level. Furthermore, feed and water distributions are automated.
Through the creation and development of various programs, the company’s epizoologist ensures that the animal handling is performed in optimum conditions.
The waste resulted from the incubation process, as well as the slaughterhouse waste, are disposed of properly, following current legislation.

The bird-feed is processed at the Transavia Combined Feed Factory. The livestock receives four types of feed, depending on their developmental stages, and following the principle of “superior poultry is attained with superior feed and superior breeding conditions for the chicks”.
The chicks emerge from the breeding facility after a period of 42 days, in which their growth is ensured by automated processes, such as the adjustments of artificial light, environment, and of the feed and water. The feed is delivered in hermetic conditions from aseptic tanks.
