Poultry meat is light, so the tart doesn't sit heavily in your stomach. Surely we've caught your attention, so it's time not to waste any more time; come on, let's find out how to prepare a great chicken tart!
Ingredients for chicken pie
The quantities below are enough to make a stunning tart that feeds 2-3 people. You can adapt the recipe depending on the number of guests by either making one large tart or preparing several smaller tarts. First of all, you need to stock up on everything you need, so make your shopping list of necessary ingredients:
- 200 g of Fragedo boneless chicken breast;
- 300 g of boneless chicken thighs;
- 1 onion;
- 1 tablespoon of oil;
- 1 tablespoon of flour;
- 3 eggs;
- 1 red bell pepper;
- 200 g of cottage cheese;
- shortcrust pastry;
- grated cheese;
- salt and pepper;
- greens for decoration.
Chicken tart preparation method
The moment you've got all the ingredients, all you have to do is put on your apron and roll up your sleeves. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Dice the chicken breast and thighs;
- Finely chop the onion and sauté it in a pan with hot oil. Sprinkle a little salt over it and stir constantly so it doesn't burn. When the onion becomes translucent, add the meat and a little pepper. Cook the meat until it changes color and becomes tender.
- Take the contents out of the pan and put them in a bowl. Add the flour on top, the eggs, the diced bell pepper, and the cottage cheese. Mix well until the mixture is smooth.
- Roll out the dough and place it in a tart pan. Prick it in a few places with a fork so that the heat can escape and it won't crack. Remove the excess dough from the edges with a knife so that the tart is even. Pour in the chicken filling and sprinkle grated cheese on top.
- Put the tart in the preheated oven at 160 degrees C. It needs to stay in there for 50 minutes, until it colors nicely and is cooked through.
- Take it out of the oven when it is ready and place a few parsley or basil leaves in the center for decoration. I know it's hard to resist such a good-looking dish, but let it cool for 5-10 minutes so you can cut it properly and eat it without burning yourself.
Tips for a delicious chicken tart
You've also found out what you need to do to bake the chicken pie, but before wishing you happy cooking, we've also prepared a few tips for you. Keep them in mind if you want to get a delicious dish.
- Grease the tart pan with oil and sprinkle flour before placing the dough. This way, you prevent it from sticking at high temperature. You can also use parchment paper;
- Choose a suitable cheese for cooking that melts nicely. Parmesan is very good, but you can use any quality cheese that stretches over the dish when heated.
- Prepare fresh dough for extra flavor; to get the right crust for the chicken pie, mix flour with butter, one egg, 7 tablespoons of water, and a pinch of salt. Knead it well and chill it for a bit before rolling it out. If you wrap it in plastic wrap, you can safely store it in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for a few days.
- Do not wash the meat; people often make the mistake of washing the meat before preparing it, but it is not recommended from a sanitary and culinary standpoint.
