„Contributing to a greener future, TRANSAVIA, the leader of the poultry meat market in Romania, marks #SustainabilityDay by publishing its 4th Sustainability Report

TRANSAVIA, the leader in Romania's chicken meat market, is marking Sustainability Day in Romania by publishing its fourth Sustainability Report. Under the motto „Contributing to a greener future”, the 2022 financial year report illustrates the company's firm commitment to contributing to a more sustainable future and presents the ambitions of the renowned 100% Romanian capital family business for continued sustainable development.

„We are determined to be an example of excellence and to encourage positive changes in the way our sector operates. In this endeavor of ours to significantly contribute to the transition toward a greener economy, TRANSAVIA initiated a major investment in green energy in 2022, valued at approximately 35 million euros, from its own funds. Through this essential step in our development direction for a green future, we will secure the energy needed for our production processes and reduce our environmental impact, states Ioan Popa, President and Founder of TRANSAVIA.

The year 2022 was a unique and challenging year for the food industry and the entire world. Without a full recovery from the pandemic, the outbreak of the war in Ukraine generated an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and led to the disruption of economic systems and society in general. In addition, the profound impact of exploding prices and runaway inflation, prolonged drought, and aggressive weather phenomena caused pressures felt at both the macro and individual levels. Despite these numerous challenges and market volatility, TRANSAVIA successfully navigated this exceptional context and identified opportunities for solid growth, recording the best economic and sustainability performances in its history.

„TRANSAVIA continues to demonstrate that sustainability and economic success can go hand in hand, while our commitment to people, the environment, animals, and communities remains unchanged. As a market leader, we assume the mission to educate, inspire, and act to help reduce our environmental impact and build a greener, more sustainable, better future for all. Through everything we do, we aim to inspire the food industry in our country, and beyond, to transform and genuinely take action so that we can all contribute to reducing environmental effects and developing a more sustainable society.”, states Ioan Popa, President and Founder of TRANSAVIA.

New Sustainability Report transparently details the results of activities related to key sustainability aspects—such as people, the environment, animals, and communities—and analyzes the impact at all stages of the value chain, in accordance with TRANSAVIA’s integrated 100% business model: from grain production to animal welfare, and from product certification to processing and distribution.

„Our vision for a greener future, presented in the 4th Sustainability Report that we are publishing today, on Sustainability Day itself, is all the more important as climate change represents the greatest challenge of our times. We have assumed ambitious objectives, in relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which include significantly reducing carbon emissions, maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality for products, continuously improving animal welfare, accelerating digitalization, using up to 100% renewable energy across the entire production chain, and engaging in projects with a positive impact at the community level. All this while we continue to offer authentic chicken meat products, of the highest quality and safety, in a responsible manner. And the new report shows the progress we have made, from farm to fork,” says Theodora Popa, Vice President of TRANSAVIA.
