TRANSAVIA Achieves Silver Level in Romania’s Most Important Sustainability Ranking, CST Index 2025

TRANSAVIA, Romania’s leading poultry producer and one of the country’s most reputable family-owned businesses with 100% Romanian capital, has achieved a score of 81 points following the evaluation carried out by the Romania Corporate Sustainability & Transparency Index (CST Index) 2025, the most important and comprehensive sustainability ranking in Romania, earning Silver level recognition. This result reflects solid and consistent performance against the sustainability criteria assessed on the basis of 243 data points, structured across 11 categories (Sustainability Governance, Diversity Policy, Economic Impact, Climate Change and Energy, Environmental Governance, Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Policy, Responsible Employer, Product and Marketing Responsibility, Investments in Communities, Value Chain, Impact and Material Matters – DMA / Disclosure on Management Approach) and 99 indicators.

The CST Index Silver recognition places TRANSAVIA among companies with strong performance in a national context where the level of sustainability reporting and maturity remains low. It reflects the consistent work of our team, who do things right every day, and the way we have chosen to act in order to grow sustainably over the long term: with clear rules, responsibility, and transparency,” TRANSAVIA representatives stated.

Through its operations, Romania’s leading poultry producer consistently contributes to the well-being of people and communities, with its core objective being the production of safe, high-quality food, essential for the millions of families in Romania and beyond who choose, every day, poultry products made in TRANSAVIA’s farms. The company’s unique, fully integrated business model in the region, from grain to fork, supported by proprietary facilities, enables full product traceability and strengthens food safety, while environmental protection and the responsible use of resources are firmly embedded across all stages of the production process.

Our entire process is designed around circular principles, so that we fully utilize resources and minimize losses. For example, raw materials from our crop farms are used in our compound feed mill, while plant residues and straw are repurposed as bedding for poultry. At the same time, secondary materials resulting from feed production — such as plant residues or seed husks — are redirected back into agriculture, either for animal feed or for fertilizing crops. We apply the same approach to animal by-products not intended for human consumption, from which we efficiently recover proteins and fats in our rendering plants and protein meal factory. In this way, we avoid waste generation and achieve 100% valorization of resulting products,” TRANSAVIA representatives explained.

Thanks to the safety and consistent quality of its products, its sustainable approach, and its speed and flexibility in fulfilling orders, TRANSAVIA is a trusted partner and supplier to major retail and distribution networks, as well as to operators in the fast-food restaurant segment, thereby reinforcing its market leadership year after year.

The Romania CST Index 2025 marks the 10th anniversary edition of the ranking and is based on a rigorous methodology aligned with the most relevant international sustainability and non-financial reporting frameworks (CSRD, ESRS, GRI Universal Standards 2021, Dow Jones World Index, Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the principles of the UN Global Compact), ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of long-term economic, environmental, and social performance.

When compared to the 714 companies that employed more than 500 people in 2024, approximately 92% of companies would not exceed the 50% threshold in the Romania CST Index evaluation, mainly due to the lack of a sustainability report or statement,” according to a statement by The Azores Sustainability & CSR Services agency.

TRANSAVIA is the leading player in Romania’s poultry market and one of the country’s most important family-owned businesses. The company owns and produces the Fragedo fresh poultry brand and Papane, a range of poultry-based ready-to-cook products. With 100% Romanian capital, TRANSAVIA is among the country’s largest contributors to the national budget and one of Romania’s major employers, with approximately 2,300 employees.

TRANSAVIA is the only major producer in the region that controls the entire production chain, from grain cultivation to the finished product delivered to consumers. All poultry originates exclusively from the company’s own farms — covering breeding, incubation, and grow-out — and is processed solely in company-owned facilities, ensuring full traceability and consistently high standards of quality and food safety.

Each year, across its farms located in eight counties, as well as its owned slaughterhouses and processing facilities, the family business produces over 120,000 tons of poultry meat, in full compliance with the highest quality and food safety standards, validated by prestigious international certifications. Approximately 30% of total production is exported to European countries and other international markets.

Over more than 34 years of activity, TRANSAVIA has consistently invested in modernization and state-of-the-art technology, embracing innovation as a key driver of sustainable business growth and long-term predictability.
