Transavia and the Alba Iulia Orthodox Philanthropy Association launched a broad philanthropic partnership in 2014 through which the company supports dozens of social centers in Alba County by monthly providing them with a significant quantity of chicken meat.
The products are distributed to approximately 30 social institutions in Alba County that offer various services for orphan children, children from very poor, socially marginalized families, the elderly, people with severe disabilities, or other categories of people with social issues. In total, the aid provided by Transavia reaches approximately 900 beneficiary individuals.
„The generous help offered by Transavia company means, year after year, important support for our social establishments founded in small and poor communities, where people face major social problems. Our activity of helping poor people can only be carried out with the support offered by people like Mr. Ioan Popa who have understood the importance of philanthropy in the community and who have not remained indifferent to the cry of their fellow human beings heavily tried by fate. The partnership we have developed together in recent years is an example of philanthropic collaboration at the level of the entire Romanian Patriarchate, said Fr. Nicolae Călin Ignat, president of the Alba Iulia Orthodox Philanthropy Association.
The Alba Iulia Orthodox Philanthropy Association is a philanthropic association under the patronage of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Alba Iulia, which manages, together with its branches, approximately 100 social centers in Alba and Mureș counties, being the largest social network in the Romanian Patriarchate. In the Orthodox Archdiocese of Alba Iulia, nearly 3,000 people directly benefit from social services, and for the quality philanthropic activity carried out over its more than 15 years of operation, the Alba Iulia Orthodox Philanthropy Association was granted the „public utility status” by the Romanian Government in 2016.
