Transavia is a family business with a 25-year tradition in Romania, delivering products to the market at the highest quality standard, with food safety being one of the company's priorities.
The reality in which we live demonstrates that very many Romanians have an unhealthy lifestyle and an unbalanced diet. With a strong sense of responsibility, Transavia decided to launch, starting in 2013, a national nutritional education program entitled „Nutrition Hour.” The main purpose of the program is to draw attention to issues concerning obesity and dietary imbalance and to help form healthy habits from a young age.
To transmit the most relevant information, Transavia collaborated with Prof. Dr. Nicolae Hâncu, Honorary Member of the Romanian Academy, Full Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences in Romania, and Honorary President of the Romanian Federation of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases.
Alongside Prof. Dr. Nicolae Hâncu, Transavia organized the Nutrition Hour course for several thousand third- to fifth-grade students, parents, media representatives, and teachers. The students reconstructed a day's menu and learned which dishes they should consume at each meal, which foods to avoid, how to correctly choose the products available in stores, and what a healthy lifestyle entails.
Over the course of three years, Mr. Hâncu taught the Nutrition Class in dozens of schools in Bucharest, Sibiu, Oradea, Iași, Timișoara, and Cluj, and participated in a series of debates on the topic of including the Nutrition Class in schools, while also drawing the attention of authorities and media representatives to the need to support this program.
The „Nutrition Hour” program is a long-term initiative that Transavia will continue to support so that the message reaches as many people as possible, helping them develop proper dietary education.
