Transavia is the first company in Romania to provide financial support to the Alba Iulia County Hospital in the fight against COVID-19, as we announced on March 13, 2020.
Transavia, one of Romania's most reputable family businesses and the leader of the Romanian poultry meat market, announced to the local and national community, right from the start of the health crisis, that it is resiliently involved in supporting the authorities to fight against the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic.
Thus, starting in March 2020, Transavia provided the Alba County Hospital with the necessary equipment to perform Covid-19 tests, as well as auxiliary medical equipment: protective gear and masks, medicines, and other materials. Everything necessary for rapid Covid-19 testing was purchased on an emergency basis, and an additional sum of 1 million lei was allocated for equipment, disinfectants, and masks. At the same time, Transavia offered its support and cooperation with local authorities at all levels to provide safety and everything necessary to respond to this health challenge. At the company level as well, all measures were implemented to limit the impact.
As of 2020, Transavia has sponsored the medical system with the amount of 2 million lei through its community involvement and support actions.
On November 17, the company will be alongside the World Health Organization (WHO) through the special partnership with The Oncology Institute „Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță”, Cluj-Napoca, in the special lighting campaign of the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral in Cluj-Napoca, which will be specially lit to draw attention to cervical cancer in Romania and the efforts made by doctors in the fight against this disease. The action is part of a global event organized by the WHO whereby iconic buildings around the world are lit in the color dedicated to combating cervical cancer: teal.
Community and health involvement is essential for Transavia, so in December the company will publish the Transavia group's first sustainability report, being the first company in the Romanian meat industry to take on this responsibility as well.
”As a resilient and responsible leader, we will stay connected with the community and we are convinced that we can get through these times together through responsibility, trust, and discipline.” says Ioan Popa, president and founder of TRANSAVIA.
