TRANSAVIA, the leader of the chicken meat market in Romania, is investing massively in renewable energy and cogeneration, with the aim of covering almost its entire energy needs. Just this year, through the projects already underway, the company will install over 22,000 photovoltaic panels on an area of over 100,000 square meters. The panels will be installed both on the roofs of the chicken farms and on the ground. The installed capacity of 10 MWh will cover approximately 30% of the annual electricity consumption of the TRANSAVIA facilities and will eliminate at least 4 million kilograms of CO2 emissions annually. In addition to reducing the carbon footprint, the investment will also have a positive economic effect, as the company will be protected from the large fluctuations in energy prices.
„Our ambition is to ensure the electricity we need is almost entirely produced. That is why we are investing heavily in green energy and energy efficiency solutions that will contribute to our long-term results. Just in the first phase, focused on this year, we will cover about a third of the electricity required for our facilities, creating a unique advantage in the market. […] We are confident that together with the companies we are collaborating with in implementing the project, we will find solutions so that by the end of next year we will produce 80%–100% of the energy we need.”, said Dr. Eng. Ioan Popa, President and Founder of TRANSAVIA.
