Reporterii alba24.ro visited the Transavia No. 11 Vegetable Farm in Rediu, Aiton commune, Cluj County. The farm operates 3,000 hectares leased land, on which it cultivates corn and wheat for the feed of the company’s calves. The visit takes place at a difficult time for Romanian agriculture: the number of insolvencies in the sector increased by 181.8% in the first quarter of 2026. For owners who have leased their land, collaboration with Transavia has clear advantages. The company pays the land tax, and owners can choose between an annual sum and high-quality cereals, the same ones that are fed to the calves. „A well-tended and well-managed land can double its value”, ,„ explains Adrian Fărcaș, the director of the TRANSAVIA Plant Sector. The local authorities confirm the impact: "For the residents of the commune of Aiton, TRANSAVIA was a godsend. Currently, on the entire surface of the Aiton UAT, there is no uncultivated piece of land”, "Says Mayor Nicolae Făgădar,".
The reportage also features the people behind the farm, from the farm manager, Lucian Jișa, to the 11 machine operators. Each new employee is trained at least one to two months before they start operating the machines. „The biggest secret is to do the work on time, to try not to lose the water from the soil and to incorporate as much plant matter as possible into the soil. What the soil gives us, we should give it back to it.”, "The farm operates in a closed circuit," says Lucian Jișa. The straw resulting from the harvest ends up as bedding in the chicken farms. The used bedding is then treated in accordance with regulations and returned to the field as natural fertilizer.
